Shimmering against a textured and stressed silver foil on polyester canvas background and dramatically framed in moulded mirror metal, Heartbeat is vibrantly metallic and intensely organic. Its four heart-shapes in wire overlap springlike to suggest quivering, irrepressible life, while barely containing the mass of corpuscles within. At 80cm x 80cm, it is quite literally a picture with a big heart.
